There are so many things besetting Nigeria, however, the most pressing are developments which tend to threaten the united existence of the nation.
Within the course of the passing week, these 15 quotes below tell of the pressure within Nigeria, as politics, militancy and economic hardship threatens to tear the nation apart.
1. “Restructure Nigeria to avoid war”
The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) in Ebonyi state warning President Muhammadu Buhari to avoid a situation where the country is plunged into war.

The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) in the morning of Sunday, August 14 challenged the commander of Operation Delta Safe, Rear Admiral Joseph Okojie and commanding officer, Nigeria Navy Service (NNS) Delta, Commodore Joseph Dzunye, telling both men to come to the creeks of the Niger Delta, instead of operating from the cities and apprehend “sleeper” agents, who they call as Avengers members to in order to get favour from their top officers.
4. “I’ve never heard of Christian terrorists but we have heard of so many Christians or followers of other religions who committed heinous crimes against humanity.”
The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III saying that though Christians were not believed to be terrorists but they commit wicked crimes against humanity.

Rilwan Akiolu, the Oba of Lagos has advised President Muhammadu Buhari against approaching governance as a military man. According to Oba Akiolu, Buhari should realize that he is no longer a military man and be civil in his approach.

Ekiti state governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) wants the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dead because the APC does not want a virile opposition to challenge its obnoxious policies and inability to tackle the problems confronting the country.

The militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) vowing to declare the Niger Delta region an independent entity on October 1, 2016. In a statement released on the website of the Avengers on Thursday, August 18, Mudoch Agbinibo, spokesman of the Avengers, said that the Niger Delta no longer wants to be part of Nigeria.
