A group of four men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have kidnapped a non-academic staff of Delta State University, John Ogeleke, at Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu who confirmed the incident said the victim was riding in his Nissan Pathfinder SUV when he was confronted at gunpoint by the suspects of Fulani extraction on his way to Ogume area from Kwale.
Kalu also said that the Police in the Kwale division, vigilante team members, men of Dragon 25 police patrol team and reinforcement from nearby divisions are searching the bush where the 54-year old victim was taken into by the armed men.
The police spokesperson stated that the Fulani leader in Kwale Alhaji Mudi, has also been informed “to assist in the search as several Fulani camps are located therein.”
A dependable source in the community who preferred anonymity disclosed that the abductors have demanded N5 million to secure Ogeleke’s release.
